Jimmy Connors
Jimmy Connors is a retired American tennis player who is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He was born on September 2, 1952, in East St. Louis, Illinois, and turned professional in 1972.
Connors won a total of 109 singles titles during his career, which is the highest number of singles titles won by any player in the Open Era of tennis. He won eight Grand Slam singles titles, including five US Open titles, two Wimbledon titles, and one Australian Open title.
Connors was known for his fiery personality on court and his aggressive playing style, which included a powerful two-handed backhand. He retired from professional tennis in 1996 with a career record of 1,256 wins and 279 losses. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1998.
